Monthly Board Meeting Minutes

Call to Order
Call to Order by President, Larry Bittner @11:00 am

Presidents's Report:
Larry reported that Lake James business except for accounting will now be handled in house, Larry and Rodger are trying to reconcile files to conform to current operating systems.

Larry also reported that he has been in contact with Houghton Lake's High School Principal about securing a student to input data that is needed to be transferred Preferably a student that lives on the lake. The principal will get back with Larry.

Parks:
Clean-up will be held on May 8, 2010. Information about the clean up will be posted on the website and on the signs. Everyone will meet at Moosehead Park at 9:00 am. Hot dogs to be served at the Pole Barn afterwards. Larry and Jim will do a survey at the parks in April.

The board has requested that Don Adams cut grass at Matchwood, Hazelwood, Moosehead Parks as needed and before the major holidays. Large parks at $70 and small parks at $35. Larry will get in touch with Terry Jenks and Dan Nelson about the other parks.

Jim will contact Lil'l Willi's to put a porta-potty at Moosehead May - September.

Larry said there was grant money from the Wildflower Foundation for parks to plant Michigan wildflowers. He asked the High School to write the grant and have high school students participate in the planting. The board agreed to supplement supplies as needed. If grant is approved than it was suggested that the entrance to Hazelwood would be a good site.

Buoys will be placed in the lake as the weather and lake conditions allow.

Larry said that Frank Yakes is prepared to rehab the picnic tables. Frank is to gather the amount of materials needed and the board will buy them.

Weed control:
Rocco reported that there is Michigan Watershed grants available for the stemming of Eurasian Milfoil abatement. He will talk to Ray about that. He also has been studying the use of Weevils in Shadow Lake to see if their use is feasible and will cut our expenses.

Geese:
As discussed before, geese are a big problem on the lake. Stan Watkins has been requested to look into the matter. "Goosebusters" has had success with removing geese by several methods. First a survey must be done to see how many geese are on the lake and where are their nesting areas. After survey is done, the board will discuss how to proceed.

Board Vacancy:
Since there is a board vacancy, Larry was asked to approach Gary Knoll to see if he would be interested in serving on the board.
