Delinquent Dues:
Rodger Shutter reported that there are still twelve (12) property owners who have not paid their dues for the fiscal year 2008-2009. Collection efforts are still ongoing.

As of today's date, there are 98.5 lots that are now past due for the current fiscal year. A second billing for the outstanding dues went out in the mail starting November 1, 2009. A letter was enclosed with the bill explaining the collection process, which will begin on January 2nd for those homeowners who are still in arrears at that time.

Dam Report:
Pat Murray reported that the boards have been removed since mid-September. The trees by the outlet tube on the downstream slope of the earth embankment will be removed in the spring. Vehicular traffic and parking of cars on the crest area of the dam will no longer be allowed. This new policy will be enforced at both the winter picnic and the July parade and all future board meetings.

Fish Report:
Pat Murray reported that on October 30,2009 fish were planted at Hazelwood Park provided by Imlay Fish Farm. The fish that were planted were Shiners - 120, Perch - 350 and Crappies - 200. There was some discussion as to whether or not the lake should be stocked just once a month. It was decided that more discussion would need to take place and perhaps this was an item that should be brought up at the annual meeting.

Rocco discussed a program sponsored by the DNR to build spawning beds. Hank Knoll, a Lake James property owner, gave this information to him. It was decided to invite Hank to a future board meeting so that we could learn more about this program. Rocco and Pat were to follow up and report back at a future board meeting.

Weed Report:
Rocco Daversa reported that our final treatment for weeds and milfoil was completed in October. Shadow Lake was treated twice within a one-week period. Some discussion followed as to trying weevils on Shadow Lake if the Renovate treatment shows no major improvement in the milfoil next spring.

There is one more year on our contract with Aquatic Nuisance.

Parks Report:
Jim Preczewski reported that beach sand was delivered both to Ridgewood and Linwood parks. Both parks will have planking installed next spring. The park benches will be repaired during the winter months at the Pole Barn. Wood and bolts will need to be purchased. Fresh faces are always welcome. The bridge at Hazelwood Park will be locked during the winter months to prevent damage from the snowmobiles. Spring park cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2010. Mark your calendars now. Don Adams will be cutting the grass at Moosehead and Matchwood parks. All volunteers that have cut grass at the various parks will again be contacted for the 2010-growing season.

Wish List:
(1) to begin to clean up Bikini Island. The dead trees need to be removed and the seawall needs to be repaired.
(2) An additional playscape to be purchased for Linwood Park.

Events Report:
Jane Tomaszewski reported that the Winter Picnic would be on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. New catalogues with logo items will be available at the winter picnic for those wishing to make special orders.

It was decided that all board members would be wearing burgundy golf shirts at all lake functions so that we would be more recognizable to the homeowners.

Communications:
Larry Bittner requested that all board members write a short article for the winter newsletter. He requested that he have this information by December 1, 2009.

Larry also reported that Stan Watkins has volunteered to check into ways to reduce the Canadian geese population. Stan will report his findings to the board at a future meeting.

  • With no further business, a motion was made by Dorothy Yakes to adjourn the meeting.
  • Motion second by Jim Preczewski
  • Board Motion Vote: I"s All Nays - 0 -

Meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.

A short meeting will take place at the home of Jane Tomaszewski, 1666 Lake James Drive on Monday afternoon, January 11, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. to discuss the final preparation for the Winter Picnic.
