Blite Issues
Tim Hughes advised on the following:

  • Mr. Brown – property now cleaned up – no further issues
  • Mr. St. John – pending response and intervention by Denton Township and lawyer.
  • Jantzen property – Tim Hughes to write a letter to offer to take the pontoon boat off the property to be used by LJPOA.

Parks Management

  • Spring Clean-Up – parks are in much better shape than in the past. They will require less clean-up/maintenance this year
  • We need to transplant numerous pine trees to Bikini Island
  • The Spring Clean-Up list was presented

Larry Bittner reported that 67 new boat launch keys have been distributed to date. There are numerous upcoming weekends to distribute new keys to LJPO’s before the new lock is installed later in May.

Jim Van Vonderen advised that there will be a supply (about 70-100) Spring Newsletter that will be available for distribution at the Barn when keys are picked up.

Tim Hughes commented on the recent article that appeared in the Resorter that highlighted a family that caught 125 blue gill and other fish on Lake James – they were NOT LJPO’s! Tim Hughes will send a letter to the Resorter to advise the public that our lake is limited access and reserved for LJPO’s only.

Delinquent Dues Status
Al Walker advised that he has recently been in touch with irrate property owners. The LJPO’s had been served notice by a process server in effort to collect delinquent dues. It was approximated that $60 in delinquent dues grows (due to court costs, interest and collection costs, to approximately $200+ dues & costs.

Tim Hughes reported that the past presidents meeting will be held the second week of May. No board members will be present, only a recording secretary.

Tim Hughes reported on an old issued pertaining to LJPOA property owner data requested by Hank Knoll and Al Collins. After meeting with them the second time, no data was collected or copied.

Tim Hughes commented that an Aquatic Fund can not be established (% of dues) yet as we don’t collect enough money to cover the cost at the current dues level.

Tim Hughes commented on the June 2008 Special Meeting. A PowerPoint presentation will be developed to review the financial status of LJPOA. It will also include financial projections. Tom Hayes will put the presentation together. Copies will be available after the meeting but not passed out to attendee’s prior to the meeting. Additionally, a copy will be posted to the LJPOA website and hard copies sent out to the LJPO’s who have requested same. Dan Nelson asked if we can solicit votes before the June meeting and get proxies signed. The LJPOA attorney will be contacted to advise.

Al Walker urged that we need to have a financial plan ready for the June Special Meeting. The financial proposal/plan has to address current and future finances. They May LJPOA Board meeting needs to address these issues and present a forecast. Dan Nelson will gather info on other POA’s and HOA’s. Dorothy will develop wording and Jim Van Vonderen will design a postcard to be sent out for the special meeting and posted to the website.
