MINUTES FROM MAY 21, 2006 MEETING:
Motion to accept by Gary Varco, second by Edgar Merrell, motion approved
OLD BUSINESS:
Treasurers report for May/June presented by Mary Hughes- motion to accept by Jim P. and
second by Gary Varco, motion approved
DAM REPORT:
Edgar M. and Stan W. advised that all boards are in at Dam and just waiting for low water levels
to install new gates
Parks:
Jim P. grass was mowed at all parks June 12 and will be mowed again on June 26. Moosehead Park Dr.
sign still not made. Additional signs for Roscommon Rd by the tube will be considered after Al’s
meeting with the Under sheriff as related to enforcement. Also buoys need to be placed at each
end of the tube. Split rail fence to be added at Hazelwood Park to keep out watercraft.
FISH MGT:
Gary V. reported that 30 gallons of flathead minnows had been Planted. Also in accordance with
the fish survey it’s recommended that blue gills & crappies, 7 inches or larger be released.
A short discussion on this subject and the stocking of fish took place.
Lake MGT:
Tim H. & Al W. advised that the Boating Safety Class was scheduled
June 24 @ 9:00 A.M. at the Pole Barn. The boat parade is July 2 @
1:00P.M. and will start at the boat ramp.
WEED CONTROL:
Tim H. advised that the weeds will be sprayed 7 to 10 days prior
to July 4, and that Shadow Lake was sprayed for milfoil on June
9. A second spraying for all waters will occur in the fall. Tim H.
agreed to sch. a meeting with Gary, Jim P. & Al to discuss alternative
means to control weeds.
NEW BUSINESS:
Stan W. & Al W. to review LJ #1 plat maps and identify which LJ #1 non-members should not be sprayed for non=milfoil weeds.
Various other items were discussed with the major topic being unauthorized fishing tournaments.
All Board members were asked to think of ways to restrict these events. Al W. will put a comment
in the upcoming Newsletter.
