2007 Boat Parade Saturday July 7, 2007
The second annual 4th of July boat parade took place on Lake James, Saturday, July 7 at 1 p.m.
Both pontoon boats and motor boats gathered at the Red Barn (near the dam) at approximately 1 p.m. to proceed around the
lake in grand style. Although there was not a definite theme, many boats were decorated in the patriotic red, white and
blue. Also, among the decorated boats were several Hawaiian themes, a Fire Dept. boat pumping water at innocent by-standers
along the shore, a snow-themed boat, a Relay for Life boat, and even a flower boat from the Netherlands with its very own
windmill. According to a very reliable source, 67 boats participated in this year's parade. At the conclusion of the
parade, everyone was invited back to the Red Barn for a hotdog roast, pop, and friendly conversation.
Special thanks to the three Marine patrol officers who escorted us around the lake, to Dan Nelson for purchasing the
hotdogs and buns and to Tim Hughes, Al Walker and Dorothy Yakes for their grilling and serving skills.
